Together Again

The unbeatable musical tandem is back! Two years after the success of Moments of Love, Jennylyn Mercado and Janno Gibbs reunite for another sure hit, their version of How Do I Live. iGMA was there to give you a behind the scenes look at their must-see music video. After the success of her first two albums, Living the Dream and Letting Go, Jen is back at the recording studio for her third album Kahit Sandali, the Best of Jennylyn Mercado. She tells iGMA about her latest project. “Compilation of the first and second album pero meron akong dinagdag like ‘yung, P.S. I Love You, ‘yung theme song ng Angels, For the Rest of Your Life, another original composition by Jimmy Borja and a version of Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You. ” Sounds like a tall order but Jen is confident that despite being busy with her shows, she will be able to meet the demands of her new album. From mall tours to video shoots, she is one busy lady. Of course, she has to be extra careful because she is well into her pregnancy. But then again, all the hard work is for the baby. It is a good thing that she is getting all the help she needs. Aside from all the support from her GMA Records family, Jen is also back with her favorite song partner, Janno Gibbs. She shares, “’Di ako papayag na walang duet. Kahit siguro next album, ‘andoon pa rin siya.” Janno’s Demands In Kahit Sandali, Janno himself picked the song How Do I Live for Jennylyn. “I chose that song. Naisip ko kaagad si Jennylyn na bagay ‘yung voice niya for that. Well, sa If I’m Not in Love, solo siya. ‘Di siya duet, so this one also, I was looking for something like that, solo song na puwede i-duet.” Janno explains. Jen already revealed to iGMA that she trusts “kuya” Janno when it comes to the picking of the song as well as the vocal arrangement, even though he tortures her with his demands. “I’m always on top of the vocal arrangements. Medyo pinapahirapan ko si Jen. Kahit tanungin mo siya. ‘Kuya Janno, masyado mataas ‘yang pinapagawa mo.” Janno shares with a smile. He adds, “she just needs pushing minsan. Minsan nahihiya. Minsan walang bilib sa sarili pero actually, kayang kaya.” iGMA was curious as to the secret behind their tandem’s success What is it about their partnership that works? “Iyong voice niya is reminiscent of Jaya, husky. It’s hard to find a ka-duet na compatible sa voice mo. Merong hindi bagay. Kami, it’s been proven na bagay. And, it’s nice to see her mature through the three songs.” Janno fondly states and further reveals that all of their respective solo albums under GMA Records feature at least one duet. He says, “parang secret weapon namin ‘yan.” Well, it’s not much of a secret but it cannot be denied that their musical hook-up works like charm. Talk more about Jen’s new album in the iGMA Forums!
