By Bianca Geli

Maxene Magalona broke down as she mentioned her late father, Francis Magalona, in her wedding vows to Robby Mananquil yesterday, January 11.

She began by recalling how she first met Robby and how he brought purpose to her life, and how she wishes he met her dad.

Maxene shared, “There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t wish you had met my dad. If he were here today, I just know how much he would love you.the way you’re deeply passionate about your music, was how he was with his.”

The beautiful bride also narrated how similar Robby is to her dad. “The way you love your dog Chooey was the way he loved his Chihuahua Gringo. The way you love and take care of me was the way he loved and took care of me. I say without a doubt that Papa is happy for you and me.”

Robby delivered his wedding vow, promising to be Maxene’s “penguin,” or partner for life. “They say penguins only have one mate in their entire life and propose by giving their mate a pebble. I propose to be your penguin," the groom said.

He added, “I love you so much, my best friend, turned into girlfriend, then fiancé, and now to be my wife. You cannot imagine the amount of joy you have sparked into my life. And for that I am forever grateful to you and God.”

Rap icon Francis Magalona passed away from Leukemia in 2009. Years later in 2015, Maxene and Robby started dating and got engaged during Valentine’s Day 2017.
