The New Isabel

For the children of the 80's, Isabel Granada is already a household name. But for the new generation of viewers, rediscovering Isabel through Kaputol ng Isang Awit will definitely be a treat! Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan and Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig brought Isabel Granada into the consciousness of the new generation of viewers. Playing the role of a guardian in the former and a singer in the latter, Isabel showed a different side of her through the stunts and other action scenes she had to do for the two series. And through Kaputol ng Isang Awit, a new Isabel is once again unveiled for the new generation. "Ang role ko dito, I play as Elena." Elena is the boss of Awit Records and Isabel admits that this is the first time she would have to play a bossy role. "It's very different from my personality! So hopefully, magampanan ko ng maayos 'tong role na 'to!" Elena is in the center of the series' action, being the one who pulls the strings on the lead characters' singing careers. The recording company where both Sarah (Glaiza de Castro ) and Joanna (Lovi Poe) are signed under was turned over to Elena as it was going down, and she was the one who had to turn the company's luck around. Isabel says that the role is very challenging for her, especially since she would have to play bossy to a younger set of stars. "Hindi naman ako masyado mataray dito," Isabel reassures, explaining that her character is the typical boss who just wants the job done. But she also admits that she still has to do some research on the character who needs to be "mabait pero bossy." "I can't be the Isabel Granada ten years ago!" The actress also shares that she's very excited with the work she'll be doing and the people she'll be doing it with. "And heto, kaya (rin) ako excited, (it's) because I'm part of the main cast already! And it's purely drama." And because Kaputol ng Isang Awit is a remake of a classic movie, Isabel assures that there will be twists! "Especially doon sa role ko! And here's an interesting tidbit for you from Isabel herself! Did you know that she found out she was part of the Kaputol ng Isang Awit cast through a message she thought wasn't meant for her? "It's really funny 'cause I was taping for Zaido that day, and they texted me the schedule (of the story conference)." Isabel explains that she initially thought it was meant for someone else, but the sender quickly reassured her that the schedule really was meant for her! "All of a sudden, she was telling me, 'Hindi ka pa ba natatawagan?' "Kasama pala talaga ako sa show!" Want more interesting tidbits from your favorite Kapuso star?
