EXCLUSIVE: Kelley Day clarifies that Iñigo Pascual is not the reason why she left the Kapamilya Network

It’s a new day for Kelley Day as she begins her journey as a Kapuso.

The mestiza beauty who was formerly part of the girl group GirlTrends in the Kapamilya network was officially introduced today, March 22, as one of the newest talents of GMA Artist Center.

In an interview with GMANetwork.com, Kelley she talked about how GMA Artist Center welcomed her with open arms.

She said, “It’s been really good. I feel like I fit in straightaway. Everyone that I was introduced to in GMA welcomed me with open arms. I thought that I will be struggling at first because siyempre like I’m from ABS and transferring agad and everyone says you know you have to be really careful. But, it was such a smooth process everyone was just so kind.”

She also admitted that a big reason why she left GirlTrends was that she wanted to pursue a solo career.

Kelley also expressed her appreciation to her former network for the opportunities given to her while being with them for more than a year.

“Kasi when I started sa GirlTrends, I was nothing that’s were my showbiz career started and ABS really gave me that opportunity,”

“I was there for one and half years in the group and I realize na I wanted to go solo. Kasi I’m known as GirlTrends Kelly. I want to be known as Kelley Day, you know. So actually my decision to leave GirlTrends was before I entered GMA, I left already and then that’s when I started auditioning sa GMA.”

Kelley also wanted to clear the air and clarify that her break-up with Kapamilya actor Iñigo Pascual was not a factor in her decision to switch network.

In November 2016, Iñigo admitted on TV that he and Kelley Day were exclusively dating, but in March 2017, the actor confirmed that they already parted ways.

“Not at all. Were actually really good friends still. So, our break-up was very mutual. We just want to focus on ourselves. Kasi nag-break kami I think medyo matagal na [giggles]. If anything, he was a part of my decision to keep going, more than to quit.”
