Wil Dasovich named Vlogger of the Year

Filipino-American vlogger and cancer-survivor Wil Dasovich took home the Vlogger of the Year award from the 10th Annual Shorty Awards, an award-giving body for social media.

Wil accepted his award at the PlayStation Theater in New York. His girlfriend, cosplayer and host, Alodia Gosiengfiao was also present during the awards night.

On Instagram, Wil thanked his supporters who voted for him online and expressed his surreal experience. He wrote, “WE GOT IT! SWIPE. I don’t even remember what I said up on stage cuz I was too flustered looking at @caseyneistat @daviddobrik @mkbhd and all the YouTube greats staring straight at me front and center! Vlog to drop soon surrounding this entire epic New York experience. What a trip!”

“There are too many people to thank for all of this (fambam, ss, viewers, shortys, vlogsquad, UCSF, etc) but there is one who has helped me more than ever rise above the great challenges I faced in the past year. And for that you deserve this award just as much as I do @alodia As they say, “Behind every successful man, there is a woman”.... but nobody knows that “women only choose successful men” joke," added Wil.

Alodia also took to Instagram to congratulate Wil and thank his supporters.

“Congratulations to @wil_dasovich for winning Vlogger of the Year at the @shortyawards!! So proud of you! Thank you so much to everyone for the support,” wrote Alodia.
