WATCH: Interesting facts and trivia about 'My 2 Mommies'

By Cherry Sun

Regal Films has come up with My 2 Mommies starring Paolo Ballesteros, Solenn Heussaff and Maricel Soriano in time for the celebration of Mother’s Day on May 9. But while we anticipate its nationwide screening in cinemas, here are a few tidbits you must know about the making of the movie.

1) The plot is close to real-life situations people can relate to.

Director Eric Quizon explains, “It’s about a gay couple and about two friends who happened to have a drunken night and something happened. And after seven years, the father realizes that he has a son. That’s what’s interesting about the movie and it’s something that is very relatable because number one, they are real characters, they are real people. It’s like a real situational comedy. That’s what My 2 Mommies separates from the other movies that I’ve done before.”

2) Maricel Soriano did not fake her acting when she fainted and fell to the floor.

“Nakita mo naman sa trailer natin ‘di ba, ‘yung nahulog. May mattress pero hindi mo iisipin na gagawin niya talaga ‘yun. Hindi siya nag-fake na mahulog kaya nakakatuwa. Nakakatawa na nakakatuwa,” Paolo Ballesteros claimed.

3) Paolo Ballesteros impresses with his acting that reminded Direk Quizon about his late father and Philippine King of Comedy Dolphy.

“Ang maganda kasi kay Paolo, he’s very witty. Parang pag may sinabi ka, may sasabihin siya. Pag nag-take two, iba na naman ‘yung sasabihin niya. I admire actors who are like that kasi daddy ko parang ganyan eh. So, never a dull moment kasi nakikita mo ‘yung dynamics at love for the character and for the work. People who improvise like that on a whim, I mean these are brilliant people. ‘Yun ang maganda kay Paolo. I think he’s a brilliant actor,” Direk Quizon said.

4) Solenn Heussaff taught child star Marcus Cabais to speak in French.

Even though Solenn still gets her tongue twisted speaking in Filipino, she managed to teach co-star Marcus Cabais a few French words for their role.

“She actually taught me to speak French. I was like, it’s really difficult to speak French but I got it, and she was like, ‘Good job,’” the child star shared.
