WATCH: Mariah Carey reacts to Aldrich Talonding's 'Hero' rendition

By Bea Rodriguez

Hollywood A-lister Mariah Carey was in awe after watching Filipino Internet sensation Aldrich Talonding’s rendition of her hit and chart-topping 1993 single “Hero.”

“Aldrich and James, I loved the rendition. [It’s] amazing,” she commended the General Santos teenage duo on an episode of You Sang My Song.

In case you're wondering what You Sang My Song is, it's a web series created by Glamour Magazine where they would "ask musicians to watch unique covers of their songs and provide commentary on them." In its Facebook page, You Sang My Song is a platform meant to give "the opportunity to celebrate milestones" of famous singers "with their fans while inspiring community."

In the episode, which was posted on Facebook yesterday (May 24), Mariah explained, “I think a lot of people who have done these covers added their own unique twist to it. For me, that’s everything. It’s really nice to see. I loved it! It’s a really nice experience for me so thank you so much everybody.”

The American singer is touched every time she sees her fans from all over the world make their own version of her songs, “When I wrote ‘Hero,’ I wasn’t writing it for myself. There’s something special about it, especially when you see such a wide range of people doing the song [from] different ages, [and] different places in the world. It’s a nice feeling as a songwriter.”
