A Second Look at Boy 2

Boy 2 Quizon has been in the business since he was eight. Now 23, he seems to have realized what he really wants in life. Let’s take a second look at Boy 2 and see what we can expect from this promising young actor. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio At the start of the year, Boy 2 admitted that he was in the process of reinventing himself. He cut his hair short and wanted to try his hand at producing. And, by renewing his contract with GMA’s Artist Center, it seemed that Boy 2 then was off to a good start. A character actor Coming from the Quizon clan, everyone expected Boy 2 to do well in show business. True enough, he had an early start as a child actor and gradually made a name for himself doing comedy and off-beat roles. “Swerte ako kasi dun talaga ako dinala ni God. It’s a profession, this is what I do. Bata pa lang ako dito na ako nilagay so I’m lucky to be part of it,” admits Dos, Boy 2’s nickname to family and friends. Although effective in making people laugh and portraying kontrabida roles, Dos says that he doesn’t want to limit himself and wants to experience doing other kinds of characters. “I can do villain roles. It’s just that nali-limit 'yung mga roles na nabibigay sa akin because I have this character, this one-package look,” shares this young actor in an iGMA exclusive interview during the taping of Bubble Gang. He confessed that this year, he wants to do different things—not just with his career but his life in general. “Reset ako ngayon. Kumbaga, I still don’t know where it’s going. All I know is mas marami akong projects na naka-line up ngayon,” says the young Quizon. Working behind the camera Having started his own production company with friends, Boy 2 wants to concentrate in producing their first project. “It’s [called] Brown Sugar Productions. It took us one year and six months to basically study everything kasi hindi pala biro ang magtayo ng prod,” he admits. Boy 2 says that the company is a product of what he has learned and experienced during his stay in the business: “Kung ano man 'yung nailalabas ko sa sarili ko ngayon, it was because of my experience na napagdaanan ko na rin.” But the budding businessman doesn’t want to rush his pet project; he wants everything to be perfect when he presents this to the public. And that’s exactly the reason why he and his team are carefully planning and preparing for their dream project. “What I want kasi is to be able to share something I do believe in,” says Boy 2 proudly. He assures us that we will probably see this project within the year if everything goes according to plan.
