‘Encantadia’ is now being released as a series of DVD volumes—the Encantadik’s long-standing wish finally granted. And to commemorate the event, the Sang’gres are taking a trip back in time. On DVD Karylle says that people have been asking her since the show ended when the DVD would come out: “Especially the ones in the States. Kasi when PinoyTV really started to catch up, patapos na [ang] Encantadia so hindi nila napanood—and everything else has a DVD.” “Nung unang binalita sa amin yun, sobra kaming na-excite at the same time nalungkot,” Diana Zubiri began, revealing to iGMA that she wanted copies of the show on DVD for herself as well. But when she went to buy them: “Ubos na agad!” Diana shares that she hasn’t even completed all the volumes that have been released. “Hanggang Volume 4 pa lang ‘yung nakukuha ko, eh,” she says. Like Diana, Sunshine Dizon couldn’t express her astonishment at how people still revered Encantadia. Though, she does wish that the DVD could’ve been released much sooner: “Sana nung peak nung Encantadia, doon nila nilabas para mas mainit pa.” She adds, “[But] honestly, I’m excited. But in a way nalulungkot din ako.” Sunshine explains that she’s excited that it finally came out; she just wonders why it took several years for it to be available on DVD. “I just feel that it was too long for me. But I guess for fanatics like the Encantadiks, they don’t mind waiting that long [as long as it got released],” she says. Sunshine does have one more request, though: “Sana they [could] come up with more [DVDs for] shows like Kung Mawawala Ka. People love that show. [And] like Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin. You know, old shows that people can watch—at a lower price [kahit original], para hindi rin ma-pirate ‘di ba?” Special features Now that the DVDs are out, what special features would the four girls have wanted to see bundled with the release? Sunshine simply wants the bloopers—all of them. As for Iza Calzado, she wants commentaries. “If we could do a commentary, nice ‘yun. Kasi you would find out what we were actually doing during [a particular] scene. And we’ll actually get to revisit. Kasi a lot of those things, people already forgot, eh,” says Iza. Karylle also wants bloopers. But more than that, she wants to see the behind-the-scenes photos. “Kasi I have a lot. eh; [and] whenever I look at them, talagang natatawa ako. And ang maganda kasi, is more than anything, the people were really friends with everyone. Nakakatuwa, eh. Actually, I have a video. I was taking a video of our last day. I’ll sell it to GMA!” Karylle jokes. Meanwhile, Diana wants to remember her fight scenes with the Hathors: “Labanan naming magkakapatid, tsaka ‘yung sinabihan ko si Alfred [Vargas] ng ‘I love you’ nung hindi ko alam na ‘yun pala ‘yung meaning. ‘Yung pinaka [memorable moments].” Sisters forever It’s been three years since Encantadia ended, but the four sang’gres never lost touch with one another. “You know what, we don’t really miss each other that much,” Sunshine reveals. “The four of us hang out together: we go out, we eat. We have fun!” “Palagi kaming nagkikita,” Diana adds. “Aantayin nila ako after tapings, susunod ako kung nasaan sila—tapos ‘yun. Talagang nagsasabihan kami ng problema, walang nagbago at all.” In fact, Karylle says that last Valentine’s, the girls—her sisters—surprised her during one of her concerts: “And during the concert, si Shine and Iza went up onstage and gave me this Valentine’s gift na puppy na may flowers. Sabi ko, ang sweet naman! Kasi I didn’t know they were both there. Ang alam ko si Shine lang ang nandoon; I knew Iza had something. And then Diana followed, so after the concert we hung out.” Even Miss Lilybeth Rasonable, GMA AVP for Drama, is impressed by the relationship between the four sang’gres. Karylle says, “Nakaka-touch. Even si Ma’am Lilybeth, talagang sisters tawag [sa amin]. Sabi niya, ‘So you and your sisters are still in touch?’ Sabi ko, ‘Oo.’ Sisters naman kasi talaga.” As for Iza, she has one wish: “I’d like to be trapped again in that dressing room in Mariwasa with my co-actors. Kasi ‘yun ‘yung bonding tlaga namin. I would just like to have a chance to work with my sisters again [na] kumpleto kami, [pati sina] si Alfred, si [Dingdong Dantes]. I mean, lahat kami nagkakatrabaho pa rin eh, kaya lang hiwa-hiwalay, iba-iba. Actually, it’s nice to pick up where we left off, even for the show.
