The Truth About Sunshine

Following the news that Sunshine Dizon has been dropped from the show Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan due to health reasons, many Kapuso fans and stars became worried and would like to know how Sunshine is and what is truly ailing her. iGMA was able to interview Sunshine a few hours before she was officially dropped from the show. Not knowing that it would be her last day on the set, we asked the actress the truth about what condition she is in. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez, Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio We instantly knew that there was something wrong with Sunshine Dizon when we arrived at the set of Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan. Pale and noticeably tired, Sunshine was shooting a wedding scene together with the other stars of the show – Marvin Agustin, Diana Zubiri and Ms. Sandy Andolong. After the scene, we asked her if it was okay to interview her. Seeing that she was tired and obviously not feeling well, we were not hopeful for a positive response from the actress. But she surprised us by granting us an exclusive, while she was being attended to by her private nurse. What’s wrong? Sunshine admits that her doctors were against her decision to work and much more do a telenovela. “Actually the doctors refused, but I told them I want to do this, so they allowed me and gave me a pass. So nakatira ako ngayon sa Medical City. Almost two to three weeks akong nandoon,” shares Sunshine while her nurse was assisting her. She said that she has been having migraine attacks almost everyday and attributes this to stress. In spite of her condition, she is determined to work. But has had to drop out of cooking school for a while. “I had to drop out, unfortunately. But my plan now is siguro to get short courses na lang for cooking. Kasi ang schedule nito (GKAM) Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, kinakain 'yung araw ko talaga. Papasok ako isang araw lang so useless talaga, so I dropped out,” says the actress sadly because she is also passionate about cooking. But she definitely can’t say no to acting that is why despite the doctor’s orders, she insisted to do this show. “It’s my bread and butter’ hindi pwedeng hindi ako magtrabaho 'di ba?” Her condition “I had a brain MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) pero 'di pa sinasabi 'yung results. It could be stress and a lot of things. But in spite of that I still go to work kasi if I don’t, I’ll go crazy. I am really glad I have work now. Kaya hindi ko naiisip na may sakit ako,” was Sunshine’s response to us when we asked her what her present condition is. She said that she is under medication and the supervision of her two private nurses – Perla and Aileen. “Sila ang sumasama sa akin, sila 'yung nagbibigay ng medication ko on time and they are the ones who give me the shots din that I need for the migraine. Now nga as in nahihilo na ako sa sakit ng ulo,” was Shine’s complaint to us which really made us guilty. But she waved it off saying that she wanted to do this interview. She however confessed to us that if there is one thing that is really hurting her, it is the bad publicity about her and not her migraine episodes. “It sucks when people don’t understand. Kasi sometimes when you are really tired, when they give me the shot at like 12 in the morning, my eyes get droopy na, kasi tulog ka na dapat by that time, tapos makakarining ka pa ng chismis na ‘Naku bangag si Sunshine’. It is so bad. Sobra talaga! They don’t know what I am going through. Instead na makita nila 'yung brighter side ng situation, lalo ka pa nilang dina-down,” was the actress bitter complaint. We totally emphasized with Sunshine seeing her present condition and knowing how dedicated she is to her work. That is why when news of Sunshine being replaced by Camille Prats in Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan reached us, we had mixed emotions. We are sorry that Sunshine lost the project despite her noble efforts, relieved that at last she will be able to rest and hopeful that Sunshine will soon get better.
