READ: Netizens' reactions on Kuwaiti social media star Sondos Alqattan's remarks on Filipino workers

Kuwaiti social media star and beauty vlogger Sondos Alqattan was heavily criticized online when a video of her “racist” comments about Filipino domestic workers went viral.

Sondos who has a strong following online with over 2.3 million followers allegedly said in a video uploaded by TRT World that she disagrees with the agreement made by Kuwait and the Philippines in May 2018 to protect Filipino workers.

She allegedly said in Arabic, “Honestly, I disagree with this law. I don’t want a Filipino maid anymore. How can you have a servant in your house who gets to keep their passport with them? If they ran away and went back to their country, who’ll refund me? And what’s worse is they have one day off every week.”

This drew a lot of flak online and negative sentiments from netizens, saying, Alqattan is “racist” and promotes “slavery” in the modern world.
