Kevin Kwan thanks Pinoy moviegoers for record-breaking box office haul of 'Crazy Rich Asians'

The movie about the rich and snobbish multi-millionaires of Asia grabbed the top spot in the Philippines box-office charts last week.

Crazy Rich Asians, the love story of Economics professor Rachel Chu and her ultra-rich boyfriend Nick Young generated at least Php 82.7 million in ticket sales.

This film was adapted from the best-selling novel of Singapore-born writer Kevin Kwan.

According to the Facebook post of Warner Bros. Pictures, this is the biggest opening weekend for them in 2018.

Now only that, this movie featuring an all-Asian cast holds the record of the biggest opening weekend for a foreign/English romantic-comedy of all-time as well.

Mr. Kwan took to Instagram to thank all the Filipino fans for their overwhelming support for the film.

He wrote, “Thank you Philippines for making #CrazyRichAsians the No.1 MOVIE IN THE COUNTRY, making it WB's BIGGEST OPENING WEEKEND OF 2018 and the BIGGEST OPENING WEEKEND for an English Rom-Com OF ALL TIME!!!
