From ‘GMA Supershow’ to ‘Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman,’ German ‘Kuya Germs’ Moreno has helped launched stars and has etched a mark in the lives of his viewers.
Initially called 'Germside' and 'Germspesyal,' 'GMA Supershow' was a Sunday noontime variety show that was launched in the late 1970s. It aired for 19 years.
Gretchen Barretto, Jam Morales, and Zsa Zsa Padilla were among its co-hosts.
'That’s Entertainment' was a youth-oriented variety show that launched the careers of many celebrated stars today. Kuya Germs’s co-host was Ike Lozada.
The young stars were grouped into five and each group would perform on a weekday and all would perform in a big production number on Saturdays.
Nora Aunor starred in a Sunday musical variety show called 'Superstar,' and her good friend Kuya Germs became its host. It was co-hosted by Jograd dela Torre.
It ran from 1971 to 1989 and is the longest-running musical variety show that aired on Philippine primetime.
Following his successful hosting stints, he was given 'Master Showman Presents,' a late-night variety talk show.
It was later on renamed to 'Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman,' which is the show’s current name.
In 2015, Kuya Germs took a leave from the show after suffering from a stroke. He returned on August of the same year.
True to his passion of discovering stars and honing their skills, Kuya Germs tapped talents and gave them a platform to share their skills until he passed away in January 2016.
