Dingdong Dantes gives his opinion on the mandatory pregnancy tests on female enrollees at Pines City College in Baguio City.

The actor and former commissioner of National Youth Commission (NYC) expressed his thoughts about this after retweeting the school's statement saying it stands by its policy.

Part of the statement read, “Pines City Colleges abides by its policy of pregnancy tests for female students who are enrolling in any subject that would endanger both mother and child.

“It is a policy agreed to by our students upon their enrollment in this institution.”

Dingdong said the policy is “a concrete violation of the basic right to privacy and of the Magna Carta for Women.”

He also stressed, “Imposing enrolment limitations and sanctions to non-compliant students found out to be pregnant are discriminatory.”

Dingdong also called the attention of NYC to support the actions of the Commission on Higher Education and other women rights advocates about this issue.

“I hope that the school management will review the implications of the said memorandum, and I support the Commission on Higher Education along with other women rights advocates who are looking into this case.

“I also hope that the National Youth Commission @NYCPilipinas will follow suit especially that this concerns young women.”
