#EqualityNight: Heart Evangelista receives Equality Champion Award from the LGBTQ community

Kapuso style icon Heart Evangelista received a huge honor from the LGBTQ community after they recognized her efforts to fight for their rights.

Heart was hailed as one of the recipients of the Equality Champion Award. If you remember, the Kapuso primetime actress is one of the strongest advocates for the passage of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Equality Bill in the Senate.

The counterpart bill in the House of Representatives had already been passed since September 2017.

In her Instagram post, Heart promised that she will use her influence to fight for the rights of the LGBTQ community.

She said, “Filipinos have always been known to be a people of love, and I believe that love is one that is never discriminatory; it is a love that is inclusive to all, regardless of age and sexual orientation. Thank you for giving me the Equality Champion Award.

“I will continue to create awareness for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, and will encourage everybody to do the same. Let's all join forces to create a Philippines that is diverse, accepting, and full of love.”

TV impersonator KaladKaren also praised Heart for her undying support to the community.
