Meeting Dyesebel

Fanatxters and PEP-ers got to meet Marian Rivera in person on the set of Mars Ravelo’s Dyesebel in Subic, Olongapo City. iGMA tagged along with the lucky promo winners and had the chance to interview Marian in the process. Text by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio Upon arriving at the location, the first person we saw was Marian who was having her makeup done for her role as Isabel. She flashed us a warm smile and signaled that she would be with us right after her prosthetics are finished. Once she had free time, she approached the winners and welcomed them on the set. The first question the winners asked was about her working relationship with Dingdong Dantes (Fredo). “Wag kayong maingay, ha!” Marian jokes. “Ganoon pa rin, magkaibigan pa rin kaming dalawa. [Lagi kaming] magkasama dito, [kaya] habang tumatagal, mas lalong [gumaganda] ang pagkakaibigan namin.” The busy actress also shared that she is having a tougher time with her sequences right now because she is playing three characters: Isabel, Dyesebel, and Cassandra. “Nahihirapan ako kasi may mga ‘lock frame’ ako -- kabit [ng prosthetics], tanggal, [tapos] makeup [ulit]. Mahirap pero pag napapanood mo naman siya, nakakatuwa.” How exactly does “lock frame work?” “Halimbawa, ikaw si Cassandra, tapos naka-lock frame yan, ibig sabihin, hindi gagalawin yung camera,” Marian explains. “Tapos [kukunan naman yung] para sa isang [character na kausap ni Cassandra, kunwari, si Isabel], tapos ipagma-match nila yung [dalawang frames]. Parang ididikit lang nila, pero hati yun, hindi lang nalalaman. [Ibig sabihin noon], dalawang beses ko talaga ginagawa lahat!” There are scenes, however, when Marian needs a body double. Here’s interesting insider info: Her double is actually her fellow actress Vanness del Moral, who plays Susira in the series! “Kumuha kasi sila dati ng double na hindi artista, pero syempre kung ano [ang] gagawin kong arte, yun din gagawin niya. Minsan syempre, nahihiya, di makakilos, so kumuha sila ng artista. Si Vaness medyo fit sa katawan ko na payat.” iGMA had to ask why Fredo still couldn’t realize that Isabel and Dyesebel are the same person, since it’s actually quite obvious despite Isabel’s half-tainted face. “Ayun na nga, e!” Marian agrees with a laugh. “Pero hinahanap naman [ni Fredo] talaga si Dyesebel. Noong nakita niya [si] Cassandra, nawala na si Isabel kasi para sa kanya, ito yung babaeng [matagal na niyang] hinahanap.” She follows up, however, that Fredo will soon realize that Cassandra and Isabel are two very different persons. While Isabel isn’t beautiful, her kind heart more than makes up for her physical imperfection.
