He did, however, confirm his television comeback.

"Basta makikita niyo na lang ako sa TV. Bawal pa po akong magsalita," he smiled.

Derek also added that this comeback came as an unexpected blessing.

"Soon you'll see me on TV. I'm really excited about that.

“Sabi ko earlier, my plan for 2019--I was already focused to go pro in golf. I wanted to give that a go but plans change.

“Another blessing was given to me. I'm really excited about what's gonna happen in 2019.

“I can't answer just yet but soon you'll see me on TV," he said.

According to the rumor mill, he is set to ink a deal with GMA Network after his contract with TV5 expired last year.

Derek, along with Kapamilya actor Piolo Pascual, met select members of the media in an press conference for Dunkin' Donuts. They both welcomed Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes as the newest member of its celebrity endorsers.

"I'm going on my seventh year with Dunkin'. When we started with Dunkin', I think the whole campaign was bringing back the magic.

“We came out with this commercial that went viral where the girl collapses after I walk into the store.

“I said it's gonna be hard to top that. But then we did! Two is better than one--Piolo and I walk into the door and when we leave, the girl just drops dead on the floor.

“Now, we add a third one to the mix so it's interesting what we're gonna do next year for the next campaign," he says of Dingdong joining them as brand ambassadors.

As the night came to an end, Derek joked that the number "7" seemed meaningful for him as he has been a Dunkin' Donuts endorser for seven years.
