LOOK: Heart Evangelista is People of the Year 2018-2019 awardee

Heart Evangelista is one of the awardees of People Asia's People of the Year 2018-2019.

People of the Year awards is a celebration of movers and shakers from different fields. Heart was selected as an awardee for her stellar achievements in the entertainment industry, additionally in the arts and in social media.

People Asia Editor-in-chief Joanne Rae Ramirez shared her official statement on selecting Heart as an awardee.

She said of the talented Kapuso artist, “We chose Heart Evangelista-Escudero as one of this year's People of the Year awardees because, apart from being an accomplished actress, she was able to transcend barriers and reinvent herself through her solo exhibits as a painter and the launch of her lifestyle website.

"As a fashion icon and celebrity, Heart's stellar career continues to shine, as she stars in the succeeding installment of the Crazy of Crazy Rich Asians trilogy."

Due to Heart's work commitment in China, she will not be able to join tonight's festivities. However, she shared a short message with GMANetwork.com describing how she felt when she learned that she would be receiving this award along with the other icons.

"I am humbled and extremely grateful! You have just inspired me to love my craft even more!"

The other awardees named by People Asia as "movers and shakers” include businessman Dennis Uy, William Belo and Rikki Dee, ASEAN Business Advisory Council chairman Joey Concepcion, fashion designer Len Cabili, artist Andres Barrioquinto, and singer Lani Misalucha.

Joanne also released a statement on why Dr. Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho's daughter, Scarlet Snow, was named as this year's "People's Choice" awardee.

"With 2.9 million followers on Instagram and numerous endorsement deals at the tender age of 3, Scarlet Snow Belo is the runaway winner for People Asia's People's Choice award. She also happens to be the youngest ever recipient of such a recognition."
