Jasmine Curtis-Smith reveals what helped her during anxiety and depression stage

Sahaya actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith shared what helped her the most during her times of anxiety and depression.

During her talk for "You, Me, Empathy," the actress revealed the simple ways she learned to cope with her personal struggles.

She said, “Books, by reading a lot of books and looking for examples and representations sa mga napapanood kong films and TV. I made sure na lahat nang nababasa or napapanood ko, or things na materials I could learn from.”

Jasmine also shared one of the reasons why she suffered from anxiety at some point during the past three years. “Parang naghahanap ako lagi ng answers nung panahon na 'yun, dun nagbi-build 'yung anxiety ko. 'Yung sa depression naman, answers sa mga bagay na hindi ko na mababago.”

“So parang even if babalik balikan ko siya sa utak ko, wala akong makukuhang progress so nagbabasa ako ng books, nakikipag-usap ako with my mentors much older than me, usually mga friends ko 20 or 30 years old my senior, feeling ko mas gusto ko kasi 'yung nakukuha ko agad 'yung wisdom.”

Jasmine also emphasized the importance of seeing professional help for mental health. “It was also so important na mayroon akong makausap na professional kasi iba pa rin naman 'yung tulong na puwede mong makuha from a friend and from a professional.”
