More Than Just a Beauty Queen

She may have been the subject of nasty rumors in the past, but this time, Carlene Aguilar is getting good reviews on her performances in the newest musical reality TV show – Celebrity Duets. This beauty title holder proves that she is not just another beauty queen; Carlene wants everybody to know that she is a serious contender for the title. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez, Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio Carlene Aguilar won the Binibining Pilipinas – World title in 2005 which paved the way for her to enter show business. But her celebrity status has its price which had taken its toll on this young beauty queen at the early stages of her showbiz career. After surviving the issues that made her the headline of a number of tabloids in the country, she is now out to get another title for herself. This time vying for the Celebrity Duets second grand champion title, Carlene is out to prove herself once again and establish the fact that she is here to stay in the business. Joining Duets Though she nearly backed out of the competition when she learned who she will be competing with, Carlene proves that she is serious in performing and competing for the title. “Ang first reaction ko nang malamang kinukuha ako for Celebrity Duets ay matuwa dahil nagawa ko nang lahat. Sana this time, manalo na ako. Dream ko talagang kumanta. Pero may aaminin din ako. Nang sumali si Chairman Fernando, muntik na akong mag-backout. Ang daming magti-text sa kanya, pero marami ring inis sa kanya sa mga ginagawa niya, kaya hindi na ako nag-backout." And indeed she made the right decision! Receiving positive remarks from the judges, Tessa Prieto-Valdez, Freddie Santos and Danny Tan, Carlene no doubt means business. Beauty, body and bombastic performances Working towards the goal of winning the title, Carlene is showing everything she’s got every time she goes on stage. Showcasing her beauty and body in her carefully chosen outfits, this definitely compliments her eye-catching acts. “That was so hot! And yes I wish my girlfriends were both of you!” says the renowned performance expert and theater director Freddie Santos after Carlene’s duet with Rochelle Pangilinan in last Saturday’s show. “Best performance so far Carlene! Ganyan dapat ang performer, sexy, beautiful and bigay todo, you enjoy yourself! Ganyan palagi Carlene, very good!” was Danny Tan’s comments on the other hand. Meanwhile Tessa gave a fearless forecast: “Well so far you’ve beaten last year’s beauty pageant contestant, Theresa Licaros, because she was first to go.
