Jessica Soho, Atom Araullo lead Kapuso awardees at Gandingan Awards 2019

GMA News pillar and State of the Nation anchor Jessica Soho led GMA as the network bagged 18 awards at the 13th UPLB Isko't Iska's Multi-media Awards held at DL Umali Auditorium at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Laguna yesterday, March 16.

Jessica was awarded as Best News Anchor while Atom Araullo was given Gandingan ng Kabataan award for his The Atom Araullo Specials.

Kapuso daytime dramas Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko and My Special Tatay took home the Most Gender Transformative Program award and Most Development-Oriented Drama Program award respectively.

Born to be Wild hosts Dr. Nielsen Donato and Dr. Ferds Recio bagged the Gandingan ng Kalikasan Award while Aha was recognized as the Most Development-Oriented Children's Program.

GMA News documentary Walang Unli Rice got the Most Development-Oriented Documentary awards while Reporter's Notebook won the Most Development-Oriented Investigative Program nod.

GMA's singing competition The Clash took home a special citation as Most Development-Oriented Musical Program.

I Juander bagged the Most Developement-Oriented Magazine Program.

Barangay LS won two awards as Barangay Love Stories and its host Papa Dudut took home the Most Development-Oriented FM Program and Best FM Radio Program Host respectively.

Best AM Radio Program Host was awarded to Ali Sotto for Dobol A sa Dobol B while Gandingan ng Agham at Teknolohiya was given to GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz.

Im Ready sa Dobol B bagged the most Development-Oriented Science & Technology Program.

GMA Regional TV took home three awards. One Western Visayas Bigyan ng Halaga was awarded Most Development-Oriented Feature Story while the region's special "Modern Day Heroes” won the Most Development-Oriented News Story.

Balitang Bisdak reporter Lou-Anne Mae Rondina took home the Best Field Reporter award.

The annual Gandingan Awards is the lone "student-organized recognition program that highlights the value of development communication and the contribution of both national and local or community-based stations and online platforms in changing the lives of Filipinos."

The winners were judged by faculty members and student leaders of the University of the Philippines Los Baños.
