Lady Boss: Carol Bunagan ventures into movie production

Behind every successful man is a woman. It seems the old adage rings true for multi-awarded comedian Michael V. But this time, Carol Bunagan is stepping out of her husband's shadow via Mic Test Entertainment where she serves as the executive producer for the movie

“Actually 'yung aming Mic Test Entertainment was incorporated noon pang 2007, so papunta na talaga kami doon," reveals Carol to GMANetwork.com.

She continues: "But, I got pregnant so I have to take care of my bunso. This time, she's big na 10 years old na, mas makakatutok na kami sa business."

NOT THE FIRST TIME

Contrary to what many would think, Carol is no first timer in the showbiz industry. Since 2005, she stood as Michael V's manager.

When asked about the advantages and disadvantages of managing her spouse, Carol replied with a laugh.

"It has its advantages and disadvantages. Siyempre as husband and wife, hindi mo maiiwasan 'yung mga disagreements," she said.

“Tapos siyempre, 'pag personal issue parang ang hirap. It's bound to get in the way of business, right? Well, in a way nakatulong din kasi nao-obliga kami maging okay,” she says as she lets out another hearty laugh.

“It's a lot simpler in the sense that, pag may mga inquiries, tatanungin ko lang siya at walang masyadong dinadaanang mahabang proseso."

SUPPORTIVE WIFE

Meanwhile, Mic Test Entertainment's maiden project entitled 'Family History' is already making quite a buzz in the movie industry. Thanks to Michael V's quadruple role in the movie. Carol's husband is not only the producer and actor in the said project. Michael V is also the writer and director of the film.

Through it all, Carol shows confidence in her husband. "Si Bitoy naman, naka-prepare na rin siya. Marami na siyang pondong material. Tapos his experience, 'yung mga na-observe niya over the years with his projects, movies and mga pinapanood niya. He thinks he's ready to share what he learned.”

'Family History' has already started shooting a few scenes and Carol has only good words for Michael V's co-stars, actresses Dawn Zulueta and Eugene Domingo.

"We are so honored to have been granted her participation in the movie kasi...when Bitoy was writing the script, talagang siya 'yung nasa isip niya who could give justice to the role," says Carol who also admits being starstruck by Dawn.

Eugene, who is making a special cameo in the movie, gets high praises from Carol as well.

“Grabe si Uge, grabe 'yung eksena niya. No wonder marami siyang recognitions, marami siyang awards. She deserves the fame and the recognitions she's been getting kasi she's really a good actress. Sobrang natural, effortless siya magpatawa," she ends.
