EXCLUSIVE: JBK offered 'the greatest show' via first solo concert

By Cherry Sun

Kapuso millennial trio JBK recently staged their first solo concert to celebrate their fifth anniversary in the OPM scene. And in their five-year run, Joshua Bulot, Bryan del Rosario, and Kim Ordonio went to prove that they can pull off the greatest show.

Joshua, Bryan, and Kim dubbed their biggest performance to date as “Just Be Kind,” following their band name and aptly titled for a benefit concert in support of Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, YesPinoy Foundation, and Hero Foundation.

The thought of paying forward their blessings to these charitable institutions was one of the driving forces that made JBK soldier on amidst challenges and setbacks in producing their concert.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, Joshua admitted, “Ayaw na namin talaga ituloy 'tong concert na 'to kasi nga iniwan kami nung producer nung una. Pero naisip namin, 'Pare, ituloy na natin kasi parang ito 'yung magiging chance natin para makita, makilala tayo ng tao na kaya natin mag-concert.”

“Gusto lang namin i-dedicate 'to sa lahat ng foundations na sinusuportahan namin. Gusto lang namin magbigay ng magandang show,” he added.

Bryan also recalled how they began this commitment. He said, “Those kinds of moments in your life, minsan lang mangyari 'yun. Kung hindi mo pipilitin 'yung sarili mo to immerse in that kind of charity work, hindi ka mai-inspire, hindi mo mafi-feel, wala kang realizations sa mga ganito.”

To put up their show, the trio sacrificed their health, finances and time with their loved ones. They translated the intensity of the challenges they faced into a paralleled passion witnessed in their song and dance numbers.

“Nag-pray kami. 'I-enjoy lang natin 'to, kung maging kolokoy tayo dito, go lang, gawin natin. Basta maging masaya lang sila,” Kim said, claiming that they had to tap on their innate strengths to deliver a good show.

And JBK did not disappoint. They carried out a complete entertainment experience through their fresh covers of movie soundtracks and classic OPM hits, via the heartfelt renditions of their originals, and in their comedic banters that showed their boyish relationship on and off the stage.

They were also joined by friends in the industry namely Nina Espinoza, Bradley Homes, Kakai Bautista and an ensemble from the musical 'Rak of Aegis,' and no less than Asia's Pop Sweetheart Julie Anne San Jose.

Approaching the finale of their concert, Joshua, Bryan, and Kim confessed to finally making sense of everything they had to go through.

The lights dimmed, their audience sang along and waved their phones and light sticks in the air. The trio saw the vision they wanted for their first solo concert. They were left speechless yet full of gratitude, recalling this highlight.

"Worth it lahat ng nangyari," Joshua and Kim chimed in separate moments.

Bryan also said, “The whole three months talaga, parang inihanda kami for something. I don't know kung ano pero I think it's showbiz life, it's the life that we wanted and nag-e-enjoy kami. And I think ready kami kung ano man ang magiging next na challenges na ibigay sa amin."
