During the press conference held earlier today, Dingdong shared a few details about the project and his preparations for the role of protagonist Big Boss, which was originally played by South Korean actor Song Joong-ki.

Dingdong said, “Preparations? Wala pa talaga masyado dahil binubuo pa lang yung show.

“Well ako, more than being physically prepared I think I am very much emotionally prepared and spiritually prepared to take on anything.

“Lalung-lalo na at napaka-espesyal ng programang ito.

“Kakaiba yung inspiration, hugot, at motivation more than ever ang chapter na ito sa buhay ko.”

In his efforts to widen his scope in terms of roles on and off-screen, GMA Network Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth Rasonable has agreed to give the Primetime King the chance to practice a more hands-on role in the soaps that he would be taking on. He will be sitting in as a a creative consultant.

Ms. Rasonable said, “Napagkasunduan namin dun sa shows niya na he is one of the creative consultants every time he has a soap.

“So now, it will extend also behind the scenes.

“Kasi sabi nga niya sa akin, 21-years na rin siya gumagawa ng soap, ng drama, ng show.

“So, na-observe na rin niya yung production process and may suggestions na rin siya on how we can make it more efficient, yung workflows and everything.

“Actually yun yung lagi naming pinag-uusapan tuwing nagmi-meet kami, how he can help in entertainment, how we can improve our dramas, and how we can improve our shows.”

During the press con, Ms. Lilybeth made it clear that Dingdong would not make his directorial debut on the much-awaited series.

She said, “Mukhang simple lang ang Descendants kung pinanood mo, pero it's going to be a difficult program.

“We have big shoes to fill in terms of production, so mabuting mag-concentrate muna siya bilang actor.

The network is yet to announce the other cast members as well as the target date for the premiere of Descendants of the Sun.
