Out in the Open

The newest telefantasya of GMA 7 recently held its press conference last Monday, October 13, 2008 at the Network's Studio 3. Introducing the newest characters and superheroes that will grace our television screens starting October 20, Gagambino is finally out in the open. A well attended event, supported by the press people and GMA Network executives, Carlo J. Caparas' Gagambino press conference was a resounding success. Headed by Dennis Trillo, who plays the title role, the event marks the actor's return to the primetime Telebabad block of GMA. The adventure begins Studio 3 of GMA Network was transformed into a mysterious place called Tierra Higanta – home of gigantic creatures where only pure-hearted humans can go. The event started with an audio visual presentation which gave the press an idea of what the world of Tierra Higanta is and who are the characters that will spin a superb adventure on primetime TV. A powerful cast was then introduced one by one and was given a short introduction of what role they will play in the life of Gagambino. or Bino, portrayed by Dennis Trillo. Sharing the screen with him are Katrina Halili, Polo Ravales, Isabel Oli, Glaiza de Castro and Ms. Jean Garcia who all wore their superhero costumes to the delight of the press. Also present at the event were Raymart Santiago, Nadine Samonte, Glydel Mercado, Benjie Paras, Jennica Garcia, Mart Escudero, Jan Manual, Krissa Mae Arrieta and Leo Martinez. A Carlo J. Caparas Classic One of the highlights of the event was the presence of the creator of Gagambino and a multi-awarded comic genius, Carlo J. Caparas. "Alam nyo nung matapos ang Joaquin Bordado, inisip ko parang may naputol na kasiyahan para sa mga manonood natin pero nung naumpisahan ang Gagambino at hinawakan ng matinik na grupo ng mga manunulat at ng mahuhusay na director ng GMA 7, naisip ko higit pa ang kasiyahan na maidaragdag sa inyo sa pamamagitan ng Gagambino," was the message of this legendary director and writer to the cast and to the guests. It was evident that he was truly happy with GMA's treatment and interpretation of his graphic novel and was really vocal about his appreciation with what the writers and the creative team did to his story. Heading the production team are two of the country's premier director – Topel Lee and Don Michael Perez who were both present at the launch. The biggest surprise of the night was when the music video of Gagambino was played on screen. The show's theme song was performed by no less than Gagambino himself, Dennis Trillo. The music and lyrics were created by Janno Gibbs and arranged by Tats Faustino. The launch ended in a high note when the cast gathered around the tables of the press and granted one on one interviews and photo opportunities to their heart's content. -- Text by Loretta G.
