Gagambino on the move

As the nation follows the story of a young boy named Bino, iGMA brings to you an exclusive interview from Gagambino himself, Dennis Trillo. Like Bino, Dennis has triumphed over the challenges and trials life has brought him. Read on and find out how this award-winning actor feels now that he has been given another shot at the top. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez, Photos courtesy of GMA Network At the press conference of his newest show in GMA, it is evident how proud Dennis Trillo is of his newest show. Excited and overwhelmed by the responsibility of top-billing this Carlo J. Caparas classic, Dennis talks about his new show with renewed spirit and fervor. Back to Primetime "Sobrang excited kami, lalong lalo na ako," says Dennis when we asked him about his new show. Gagambino marks his comeback to primetime television after his success in the Dramarama block via GMA's sinenovelas. "Actually para sa akin wala talagang pinagkaiba pero syempere siguro mas marami lang nanonood sa primetime so talagang ibinuhos lahat dito. Iba ang viewers ng primetime at iba ang viewers ng panghapon pero parehong quality pa rin ang mapapanood nila dito dahil talagang lahat ng effort, lahat ng pawis at pagod ibinuhos namin dito sa show na ito," shares the newest Pinoy superhero. He adds that this show is also a reunion between him and Katrina Halili who was his leading lady in Magdusa Ka. "Sobrang excited ako na makasama ko sya ulit after Magdusa Ka, dahil syempre, naging okay 'yung tambalan namin dun at tinanggap sya ng manonood and this time kakaibang pagtatambal 'yung gagawin namin dito kaya iyon ang dapat nilang abangan," says Dennis with an air of mystery. Drama to fantasy Quite different from his intense and dramatic role in Magdusa Ka, Dennis agrees that making the move back to fantasy is not a problem for him. As a versatile actor, he is able to adjust and cope with the demands of his new role. "Ever since naman, papalit-palit naman [ang role ko] kapag may drama o laging merong susunod na fantasy or semi-action or pambata, so balanse pa rin. Nakagawa na ako ng ganito before kaya 'di ako naninibago," explains Dennis to iGMA. He however concedes that this is his biggest role to date and that he is overwhelmed by the fact that he has landed the title role. "Ito 'yung first tme kong mag-title role kaya, ibang experience talaga ito. First time na doon talaga sa character ko nakapangalan as Gagambino. Ito 'yung parang solo title role ko." This project also gives Dennis a chance to prove himself once again and to elevate his standing as an actor. But this will not be an easy task. Gagambino replaced a consistent top-rater -Mars Ravelo's Dyesebel. It will be a great challenge to equal and surpass the success of this Marian-Dingdong starrer. "Ganoon talaga ngayon, pataasan ng ratings, 'di ba? Pero maganda 'yung may ganitong klaseng pressure, at least challenging para pursigido kang pagtrabahuhan ng husto," admits Dennis. A bold statement from an equally daring actor which made us even surer that Dennis deserves to be the newest Pinoy superhero. Catch him weeknights in Carlo J.
