Direk Maryo J. remakes his own movie for tv

In the tradition of presenting movie classics on television, GMA Network now brings a Maryo J. delos Reyes movie masterpiece, 'Saan Darating ang Umaga?' Mauricio At the press launch of GMA Network's newest Dramarama offering, Saan Darating ang Umaga? the media people were given a dose of the heart-breaking plot of the story with an audio-visual presentation of the original movie. Those who attended the event were mesmerized by the intensity of emotions shown by Ms. Nida Blanca and Ms. Maricel Soriano in the clip of the original film. After the AVP, a resounding applause filled the room while the director of the movie, Maryo J. delos Reyes, who is also doing the TV adaptation sat motionless as if reminiscing the time when he was doing the movie. After the introduction of the Sine Novela's Saan Darating ang Umaga? cast, headed by Ms. Lani Mercado and GMA's Drama Princess Yasmien Kurdi, the press all wanted to ask Direk Maryo about his masterpiece. Remaking his film Visibly satisfied with how the press reacted to the introduction of Saan Darating ang Umaga? Direk Maryo was quite willing to accommodate the questions coming from the floor. First he was asked about his thoughts about remaking his masterpiece and how different it will be from original film version. "First, I would like to thank GMA for choosing me to do the television version. Nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon to show how it could be on television. Ang pagkakaiba is that basically na-extend ang istorya, nakita natin siguro 'yung mga background ng characters dito sa television version," explained the renowned director to the press. The press also asked him how we would compare the original cast from his present television lineup. Before responding to the question he said that the Nida-Nestor tandem was a classic and that it was a privilege to have done the movie with them. He then added that his present cast, is working doubly hard to equal if not surpass the success of movie. "Itong cast ko ngayon is a young cast, pero ito 'yung kung cast ng mga workaholics. Ang saya saya namin sa set. And I congratulate them ngayon pa lang." Indeed, the presence of senior artists like Joel Torre, Lani Mercado, Charlie Davao, Pinky Amador and Gary Estrada will no doubt be an asset to the show. But of course GMA's Drama Princess Yasmien Kurdi has more than once proven herself when it comes to portraying intense characters such as her role in this Sine Novela. So mark your calendars on November 10, 2008 as GMA brings to us Maryo J. delos Reyes’ masterpiece, Saan Darating ang Umaga? on GMA-7’s Dramarama sa Hapon.
