LOOK: Sanya Lopez and Cherie Gil win big at the 35th PMPC Star Awards for Movies

Dahil Sa Pag-ibig actress Sanya Lopez shone brightly last night at the 35th PMPC Star Awards for Movies as she won the New Movie Actress of the Year award for her role in Wild and Free with fellow Kapuso star Derrick Monasterio.

“Maraming salamat po PMPC,” she wrote on Instagram.

Co-stars and a few Kapuso celebrities chimed in on the celebration.

Never to miss out an opportunity to tease her younger sister is Kara Mia star Jak Roberto who wrote, “Sabi ko na nga ba nakatulong talaga sayo yung mga pagpapaiyak ko sayo nung mga bata pa tayo eh.

“Worth it yung mga nasalo kong lumilipad na tsinelas, hanger, sandok, walis at kung anu-ano pa kay mommy kaka-arte mo (Syempre kaylangan may nai-ambag ako)

Mike de Leon's masterpiece Citizen Jake won three awards last night namely, Indie Movie Screenwriter of the Year, Indie Movie of the Year, and Best Movie Supporting Actress of the Year for Cherie Gil.

Meanwhile, Kapuso veteran actors Gloria Romero and Eddie Garcia were given recognition for their unforgettable and remarkable contributions to Philippine Cinema.

They were among the 12 iconic names in showbiz included in “Mga Natatanging Bituin Ng Siglo.”

Also in the list were Nora Aunor, Tirso Cruz III, Christopher De Leon, Joseph Estrada, Anita Linda, Niño Muhlach, Ramon Revilla, Sr, Susan Roces, Phillip Salvador, and Vilma Santos.

On the other hand, Ika-6 na Utos director Laurice Guillen received Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula Sa Likod ng Camera award.

The 35th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Awards recognizes the best films and filmmakers for the past year. The awards night was held yesterday, June 2, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.
