Lea was the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in the animated movie version shown in 1994. Together with Brad Kane, Lea immortalized the theme song of the movie "A Whole New World."
In her post via Facebook, the singer shared her thoughts about the contribution of the latest version of Aladdin at a time where there is strong support for more representation in Hollywood.
Lea explained, “For all that's been said about the new live action Aladdin, even without seeing the movie, my takeaway is thus: a movie set in a fictional city in the Middle East starring all shades of brown people and making beaucoup bucks at the box office can only be a good thing. If this aids in changing the way we as outsiders view this part of the world and people from there, it will all have been worth it.”
The Disney movie boasts of a powerful cast which includes Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott plays the role of Princess Jasmine under the direction of Guy Ritchie.
