GMA Network and Armed Forces of the Philippines sign partnership for 'Descendants of the Sun'
GMA Network is officially working with the Armed Forces of the Philippines for the Philippine adaptation of Descendants of the Sun, as they sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on Thursday, June 20, at the GMA Network Center.
Present at the signing were Senior Vice President for Entertainment TV Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Vice President for Drama Productions Redgie A. Magno, Major General Bienvenido R. Datuin, Jr., Commander of Civil Relations Service of the AFP, and Kapuso stars Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Rocco Nacino, and Dingdong Dantes.
"Bukod sa natutuwa, talagang we are blessed na pumayag silang makipag-partner sa GMA sa napakalaking project na ito. We want to be able to depict our military properly sa lahat ng aspekto, sa pananamit ng mga artista natin, sa proseso na pagdadaanan nila, how it really is to be in the military.
"The only way we can assure that is if the AFP will teach us and guide us all the way. We are really very honored and thankful that they are going to partner with us," says Ms. Rasonable.
Major General Datuin is likewise grateful for the chance to work with the Kapuso network.
"The pleasure and the honor is ours. We have evolved into your partners in the civilian community, and this is an opportunity for us para maipaalam sa inyo that not only that this is an AFP that you can trust, but our core values can be shared which our actors and actress here will be able to portray. This will further enhance our image as your partners for peace and development."
Dingdong, who is set to play the role of Captain Lucas Manalo or Big Boss, is also delighted with the partnership.
"Thank you po sa ating Armed Forces of the Philippines and of course to our GMA bosses. Bukod sa pagsasabuhay ng mga karakter sa Descendants of the Sun, today just shows that we are committed in bringing to life and representing properly, with honor and pride, our Armed Forces. We are very excited to start the show already."
The Kapuso Primetime King is joined by Jasmine and Rocco, who will play the roles of Moira Defensor and Diego Ramos, respectively.
