Family History, Prima Donnas, and The Better Woman in Cebu this weekend
Summer is not quite over as the stars of Family History, Prima Donnas, and The Better Woman amp up the fun this weekend for Kapusong Cebuanos in a series of events courtesy of GMA Regional TV.
On Friday (July 19) the lead actor, writer, and director of the upcoming film Family History--multi-awarded comedian and content creator Michael V.--is set to inspire Cebuanos in another leg of the 'Masterclass Series' in Parklane Hotel at 10 a.m. Students from various universities and schools in Eastern and Central Visayas are invited as Michael V. shares with them his insights and expertise on TV making and filmmaking.
Family History is Graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board and it opens this July 24 in cinemas nationwide. It received glowing reviews from the council, tagging it as “a credible family drama with the unique 'Michael V.' touches of comedy” and “a must-see for everyone.”
Launched last year, the 'Masterclass Series', is a project by GMA Regional TV, which seeks to gather some of the biggest names in various fields of expertise to give Kapuso in the regions an opportunity to become part of relevant discussions on different topics.
“Fresh from the very successful Masterclass Series in Cagayan de Oro, we are honored yet again to bring Michael V. to Cebu as he imparts his knowledge and experience working in front and behind the camera,” said GMA Regional TV Vice President and HeadOliver Amoroso. “We at GMA Regional TV are in full support of his first venture in film production thru Mic Test Entertainment and in partnership no less with GMA Pictures.”
Also known as 'Bitoy', Michael V. further gives his fans a Friday to remember as he headlines the two Kapuso Mall Shows in the afternoon with no less than his Family History co-star--highly-acclaimed actress Dawn Zulueta. Joining them as well is their co-actorMikoy Morales. The Family History cast will be at Gaisano Grand Mall Mactan at 4 p.m. and at Ayala Center Cebu for another Kapuso Mall Show at 6 p.m.
Making the Kapuso Mall Shows extra special are Katrina Halili and Wendell Ramos of the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series, Prima Donnas, which is a heartwarming tale about family and love among siblings.
Kapuso viewers will get to see a different side of Katrina as she tackles the role of Lilian Dalisay, the surrogate mother of the Donna Marie, Donna Belle, and Donna Lyn. Wendell, on the other hand, is Jaime Claveria, the overseer of their family business and a loving husband. He is the father of the “Donnas”.
Prima Donnas is the comeback project of returning Kapuso and seasoned actress Aiko Melendez, together with the “Donnas”--Jillian Ward, Althea Ablan, and Sofia Pablo. The series is under the helm of award-winning director Gina Alajar.
Joining Family History and Prima Donnas is The Clash alumnus Anthony Rosaldo.
The fun does not stop here because on Saturday (July 20), the lead stars of the primetime series The Better Woman--Derek Ramsay and Andrea Torres--take a breather from their busy schedule as they fly to Cebu for a Kapuso Mall Show in South Town Centre in Talisay City, Cebu at 4 p.m.
The series is Derek's first project as a Kapuso and the role of Andrew de Villa is tailor fit for him. Andrea, meanwhile, convincingly switches between two very different roles, twin sisters Jasmine de Villa and Juliet Santos-de Villa aka Elaine Reyes. Since its premiere, both of them have been applauded by Kapuso viewers for their undeniable chemistry and outstanding portrayals of their characters.
The Better Woman also stars multi-awarded Kapuso actress Ms. Jaclyn Jose, Ina Feleo, Ashley Rivera, Paolo Paraiso, and Francis Makil. It is under the direction of esteemed director Mark Sicat dela Cruz.
“It will be a fun-filled weekend indeed for our Kapusong Cebuanos as we are also treating them to back-to-back Kapuso Mall Shows featuring Family History, Prima Donnas, and The Better Woman. We hope everyone enjoys this line-up of activities,” Amoroso added.
