Balitang Bisdak debuts fresh new look and levelled-up content

GMA Regional TV's local flagship news program Balitang Bisdak continues to get bigger and better, debuting this Monday (July 29) its fresh new look and levelled-up content as part of its commitment to delivering news that matters to local audience.

Veering away from traditional methods of news reporting, Balitang Bisdak's new set boasts of a more relaxed set-up--with couches instead of the tables and chairs that viewers usually see on typical newscasts. The Balitang Bisdak studio indeed becomes an extension of viewers' living room, further connecting the news anchors and the viewers.

In addition to the new studio set, Balitang Bisdak opens its doors to the public as it invites viewers to participate as live studio audience every Friday

Balitang Bisdak airs from Monday to Friday at 5 p.m. With its tagline, “Balitang Bisdak, bugtong kasaligan, kasandigan ug kadangpan sa mga Bisaya [Balitang Bisdak, the most trusted, dependable and reliable (newscast) of the Bisaya]”, it features comprehensive and in-depth delivery of news and information in Central and Eastern Visayas.

The award-winning newscast is anchored by tri-media personality Bobby Nalzaro, award-winning local news correspondent Alan Domingo, and news presenter Cecille Quibod-Castro. Joining the team are various local news teams based in Cebu and local news stringers based in different parts of Central and Eastern Visayas lead by Chona Carreon, Lou Anne Mae Rondina, and Nikko Sereno.

“With the faster pace of newscasts and with reports being limited to a minute or two, our regional news teams are challenged to be more efficient and creative in producing stories,” says GMA Regional TV Vice President and Head Oliver Amoroso. “Such challenge fuels us to continue to innovate so that we can ride the waves of change. Beginning July 29, we are proud to present a bigger, better Balitang Bisdak. Rest assured that we are not only modernizing our sets and studio--we continue to be consistent in providing quality service to our regional viewers,” he adds.

Through the years, the program has made a niche in local newscast in Eastern and Central Visayas. In 2017, Balitang Bisdak further challenged itself, widening its reach across the Visayan region and becoming available in Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Leyte and Bohol provinces. It currently airs in Cebu, Leyte, Siquijor, Bohol, and parts of Negros Oriental thru GMA Network's local channels GMA 7 Cebu, GMA 10 Tacloban, GMA 11 Bohol, and GMA 12 Ormoc.

Balitang Bisdak has been reaping awards and winning the ratings game in the process based on data from Nielsen Phils. TAM.

At the 40th Catholic Mass Media Awards, Balitang Bisdak received a Special Citation for Best News Program for the comprehensive coverage of the burial of Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal. Meanwhile, Lou Anne Mae Rondina was hailed as Best Field Reporter at the Gandingan 2018 Multi-media Awards given by the University of the Philippines Los Banos' (UPLB) Community Broadcasters' Society, Inc.

Drawing strength and inspiration to continue working hard in gathering news and bringing Serbisyong Totoo to Kapusong Bisaya, Balitang Bisdak's latest news hub further gears up to deliver unparalleled local news reporting.

“While we continue to deliver consistently high ratings performance versus competition, we are not resting on our laurels. Local news matters and we owe Balitang Bisdak's success to our loyal Kapuso viewers and this is why they can be assured that we will continue to give them the highest quality of news reportage only GMA Network can deliver,” Amoroso ends.
