Gladys Reyes and other celebs mourn the passing of environmentalist Gina Lopez

By Aaron Brennt Eusebio

Kapuso and Kapamilya artists paid their last respect to environmentalist Gina Lopez.

Lopez died today, August 19, due to brain cancer. She was 65.

In a post on Instagram, 'Madrasta' star Gladys Reyes thanked Gina for sharing her thoughts on her talk show.

"Forever grateful, Ma'am Gina Lopez for sharing your thoughts, advocacies, [and] learnings that I will never forget," she wrote in the caption.

"You have done so much and time to rest. Thank you."

Meanwhile, content creator Erwan Heussaff reminisced the time when he and Gina spent four nights in Tawi-Tawi together.

"I spent just 4 days with her in Tawi-Tawi and in that small amount of time, we had already spoken about grand plans, to a point where I was left confused by where to start," he wrote in an Instagram post.

"She taught us that it's all about moving forward, knowing that the race will never truly end, content with the impact we leave along the way."

Erwan described Gina as “a staunch champion for thousands of voiceless communities and infallible protector of the environment.”

“Gina leaves behind a legacy that we should all be inspired by, urging us to become better and help out, in whatever little ways we can, to improve the lives of everyone in our country,” he wrote.

“Like rays of sunshine, your energy will continue to stir our souls, even on the cloudiest days.”

Singers Mark Bautista, Pops Fernandez, and Ogie Alcasid, also paid their respects through respective social media accounts.
