Jasmine Curtis-Smith appointed as youth ambassador for energy independence

Jasmine CurtisSmith takes pride for being the first-ever youth ambassador for the newly-launched Philippine Energy Independence Council.

The Descendants of the Sun actress has teamed up with other energy advocates to form the agency. Their goal is to tap new sources of energy amid the country's growing population and heightened infrastructure development.

She discoursed, "There are still 16 million Filipinos going without reliable electricity and this is due to lack of access as well as a surge in power costs due to imports of fuel.

"Imagine if we could source our own energy right here from our very own home? From solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and natural gas... all of which we already have."

As an environmental advocate, Jasmine is well-aware of her duty to influence the government and private sectors to create alternative energy sources that are indigenous and sustainable.

She stated, "Here to lead and begin progressive and positive discourse among the youth to create awareness, empower our knowledge and hopefully inspire our lawmakers and big game players to start investing in our indigenous energy."

Aside from being an energy independence ambassador, Jasmine is also an ambassador for World Vision.
