Direk Mike Tuviera, all praises for Luna Mystika

'Luna Mystika' has proven itself as an original well worth the watch. Siyempre, kailangan natin malaman sa sariling direktor nito kung ano ang reason for the success of this show at kung bakit ito tinatangkilik ng mga manonood. Text by Erick Mataverde. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.
Nang maabutan ng iGMA.tv si Direk Mike Tuviera sa set ng Luna Mystika, naki-balita kami sa kanyang trabaho so far sa consistent top-rater na ito. And it seems he is as contented as a director can be.
Work and play
"I love it! This is probably one of the most laid-back [sets]. Kahit na mahirap 'yung mga kinukunan namin, kahit na very complicated, especially isa sa mga bida namin, one of our main actors is a walking shadow. It's very, very complicated. Pero 'yung synergy ng cast, ng staff, lahat, ng crew—everyone works together so well. Minsan, parang hindi trabaho eh, parang barkada na nagkikita-kita, ganun. Sobrang ang ganda-ganda ng chemistry ng lahat ng tao sa set," kuwento ni Direk Mike.
He also gave us a humorous look into how tapings are on the set—na nag-mimistulang showbiz tsismis arena. Kanyang salaysay, "Lalo na sila Tita Chanda (Romero), everyday ‘yan meroon ‘yang talk show. Kung anuman ang hot na pinag-uusapan sa showbiz. May talk show sila, 'yang sila nila Tita Ces (Quesada) sa tent, 'pag pumasok ka tent nila, 'So what do you think about ano…?' Ayun, silang dalawa lang, tapos biglang dadami ang tao. [Ang tawag namin sa kanila]: 'The Unofficial Luna Mystika Talk Show.'" "'Yung Luna Mystika talaga, everything, the concept, the script, everything came, 100 percent from the GMA creative team. Lalo na ngayon, a lot of the shows come from pre-existing properties, mga binili sa labas, mga remakes, mga ganun. Luna Mystika was 100 percent borne from within. Someone came up with an idea, then they developed it hanggang naging show," ang banggit niya. A secret shared Dahil sa success ng show we had to know what made it click with the audience and Direk Mike was glad to reveal his thoughts: "I think it's just chemistry, like 'yung casting, we didn't know. Kasi first time na-pair together si Heart (Evangelista) tsaka si Mark (Anthony Fernandez). So we didn't really know. Tapos ang hirap kasi ng balance between the drama and the fantasy. Kasi GMA has done a lot of dramas and it has done a lot of fantasies. But this middle ground na drama-fantasy, it was very hard. Parang we didn't really know at first, eh. Tapos surprising na lang talaga that we were embraced by the audience. So sobrang thankful ako, kasi obviously we worked very hard on the show and na-reciprocate naman ng audience. They really like what we did." At sa pagtatapos, tinanong namin siya about any plans for a sequel or something similar to Luna Mystika, at sabi ni Direk Mike, "There are so many more stories to tell, I'm sure depende 'yun sa audience. Of course, we're very happy and proud that we're the number one show right now. But it all depends on the audience, if the audience wants to seee more, wants to hear more—ang dami pang kuwento diyan."
