Gabby Eigenmann, poor little bad guy

Para sa 'All About Eve', doble ang hirap ni Gabby Eigenmann. One, he has to work hard para maging believable bad guy; and two—kailangan niyang maging believable na mahirap. But how exactly is that a problem for him? Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.
"I feel happy and honored to be part of All About Eve," was the first thing that came out of Gabby Eigenmann's mouth when we asked about the show. And he's not saying this para lang magpalakas. He really looks like he's enjoying the show.
Bakit nga naman hindi? According to Gabby, he's reuniting with two of his Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin co-stars after six to seven years na hindi sila magkakatrabaho. Sino 'yung dalawa? Sina Sunshine Dizon and Mark Anthony Fernandez! "So it's gonna be fun," Gabby tells us. "I'm excited." Another thing that's got him excited is working with Jean Garcia and Eula Valdez for the first time: "They're [some] of our top actresses in GMA now—so [I'm] honored and looking forward to having more scenes with them." Pero ano nga ba ang role ni Gabby dito? "I play the role of Max, boyfriend ni Sunshine," sagot niya. Well, actually, he's playing Sunshine's ex-boyfriend. Pero hindi pa ito tanggap ng character niya. Gabby says he's not sure if his character is part of the original soap, pero the one thing he is sure of is mahaba pa ang magiging papel niya sa buhay ng character ni Sunshine. "Kasi I'll be helping out Sunshine eventually, throughout the story, trying to fulfill her dreams— "I think," he finishes before laughing out loud again. With Holy Week coming up, tinanong na rin namin si Gabby kung ano ang plans niya. Especially since the break will also be breaking their All About Eve production schedule. He gamely shares na plano na niyang magpa-itim ngayon.
"I'll probably go to the beach, kasi I need to get dark—because I don't look mahirap," he answers before laughing out loud ulit. Seriously, though, Gabby plans on just reflecting and praying this coming Holy Week, pero him being Gabby, kailangan niya talagang mag-inject ng punchlines. Gabby explains na he's really working hard this time para maging mas jologs ang portrayal niya kay Max—not because that's how he sees poor people, but rather because 'yun ang kailangan ng role. And to help him work on his character, binigyan siya ng staff ng konting background info for Max: he owns a girlie bar. And this is a fact na agad namang tinawanan ni Gabby: "Parang ako 'yung may-ari nung building, hindi 'yung may-ari ng bar!" To make him look tougher, Gabby reveals na he's gone back to boxing as well: "I've been going boxing for the past months, [and] okay naman, [but] my stamina is not back yet."
