EXCLUSIVE: Alden Richards explains the importance of saying 'no' to a job

Asia's Multimedia star Alden Richards recently shared with GMANetwork.com the importance of knowing when to say "no" to a project.

In our chat with the Kapuso actor at the Shopee 11.11 Big Christmas Sale media event in the Shangri-La Hotel in Taguig City, he explained that one should know his or her limitations.

Alden believes that finding balance is essential for everyone.

"Siyempre importante 'yun para hindi ma-burn out kasi ang hirap naman talaga na experience ko 'yun na in my almost 10 years in the industry I've experienced a lot of busyness already.

"Kumbaga nadaan ko na siya lahat, dinadaanan ko pa rin siya up to this point, so as I go along pag-aaralan mo na balansehin 'yung ginagawa ko, 'yung mga dapat at 'di dapat gawin.

"Sometimes okey lang na humindi for yourself, kasi siyempre ikaw 'yan, eh. Ikaw 'yung kailangan mag-trabaho so siyempre alagaan mo rin 'yung sarili mo"

The multi-awarded actor shared some advice for people looking for their 'source of joy' in their work to lessen the stress.

"And at the same time pag kaya mong pagsabayin good din 'yun. Siyempre ako against sa mantra ko 'yung humindi sa trabaho and opportunities, kasi it keeps me going and that's the reason why I'm here in this industry.

"And siyempre at the same time you find things that you enjoy in the work that you do, 'yung mga trabaho mo maghanap ka ng enjoyment doon para at least hindi mo iisipin nagta-trabaho ka."

After his recent string of successes--winning the Asian Star Prize award in the 14th Seoul International Drama Awards, a blockbuster movie, and being back in primetime via The Gift--Alden also bared his plans for next year, too.

He emphasized that he wants to meet new people who have the same passion for acting as he does in order to expand his horizons.

"Hopefully do more movies, do more storytelling. Do more na mga bagay na makakadagdag pa sa career and sa experience ko bilang actor.

"Meet new people sa abroad especially para ma-expand 'yung horizons ng acting.

"At the same time mas lumawak 'yung network ng mga kakilala mo sa industriya and mas maganda kapag if you get to meet new people that you share the same passion with para at least same page kayo kapag when you are together."

Christmas TV special

Alden Richards will also be performing at the Shopee 11.11 Big Christmas TV Special, which will be airing on GMA-7 and Shopee Live this coming November 10 at 10:30 P.M.

This early, the Kapuso star is ecstatic for this big TV event with the leading e-commerce platform, which is a perfect way to celebrate the Holiday season.

"Kasi first time to mangyayari GMA and as I've heard first time din siya mangyayari for Shopee. Ang daming first time dito and exciting and excited kaming lahat kasi it's 11.11 at malapit nang mag-Pasko so expect it to be the biggest TV event in history."

"Kanta, sayaw tapos magpapamigay tayo ng papremyo sa mga manonood natin.

"And of course hosting on the side as well. I will be joining a lot of our Kapuso stars in this event as in halos lahat kami nandito."

Some of the A-list celebrities joining Alden this Sunday night are Maine Mendoza, Julie Anne San Jose, Gabbi Garcia, Senator Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, Heart Evangelista, and the Father of Philippine Christmas music, Jose Mari Chan.
