JUST IN: Bianca Umali bags lead role in the HBO Asia Original series 'Halfworlds'
Kapuso actress Bianca Umali is set to take Asia by storm after it was announced today, November 29 in Singapore that she bagged the lead role in the third season of the HBO Asia Originals series 'Halfwords.'
This dark fantasy thriller series will be directed by no less than independent filmmaker Mikhail Red.
In a press conference held in Singapore, Mikhail discussed how Bianca bagged the role in 'Halfworlds.'
He said: “Someone recommended Bianca (Umali)... We called her in for an audition and this was the latter part already and she came in, she was not even aware there's gonna be an audition. She didn't know anything about the project.”
Mikhail added that they were blown away with Bianca's impromptu audition.
“Cause its still top secret at that time and we met her, talked to her, and we saw that she has so many parallels and similarities with the character, the lead of 'Halfworlds.'
“And on the spot, she did an audition and I think she even cried and she was super emotional in that audition. She blew us away,”

Meanwhile, Bianca recalls her surprise audition with the director.
“They told me then and there that I was going to audition and I said 'Oh! So I'm gonna act today?'
“So I didn't know, I really don't know anything about it, but then so the audition was more of an improv... thankfully it paid off and I'm very happy that I got in.
Bianca adds, while still in disbelief that she was chosen for this project by HBO Asia, “It hasn't sunk in yet."
In April 2019, Bianca won the German Moreno Youth Achievement Award at the 67th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards.
