Stef Prescott: 'I want to show the new and improved me.'

Stef Prescott has been keeping a low profile, pero her fans shouldn't worry—she's just around the corner, making sure she'll be giving her best sa kanyang susunod na project. Text and photos by Jason John S. Lim. Matapos ang guest stints niya sa LaLola at Ful Haus, saglit na nawala sa limelight si Stef Prescott. That's because Stef got busy preparing for a personal project she committed to, at kinailangan pa nga niyang mag-turn down ng isang role! Pero now, Stef is ready to get back into the acting realm, and she's taking acting workshops to further hone her craft. "Matagal ko nang hinihintay," Stef says of the workshop. Nagkataon lang din kasi na nagsunod-sunod ang projects ni Stef before, with My Only Love, Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita, and Ako si Kim Samsoon. Ngayon lang siya nagkaroon ng time to properly join the workshop given by GMA Artist Center. And since wala naman siyang project right now, Stef says, "Sayang ang opportunity [and] alam ko, it's gonna be worth it." Of course, this was before Stef found out na kasama pala siya sa cast ng Ang Panday, a joint production of Imus Productions and GMA Films. "I'm really excited," Stef reveals. "It's my first project this year, and I hope sana tuloy-tuloy na." With a movie under way and fresh acting workshop experience under her belt, Stef is out to prove that she's grown na as an actress: "I want to show people na 18 na ako," she tells us. "I want to give [them] a new flavor, something new—I want to show the new and improved me." And she hopes to do this from what she has learned from the acting workshop she is currently still attending. It's a workshop that also features talks from well-known and well-respected icons from the showbiz world, like Marvin Agustin and Eric Quizon. "Coming from a kapwa actor who has experienced more things, more roles, and has a lot of awards," she tells us she's learning a lot. From their talks, as well as acting exercises, Stef says she gets scraps that "we can use to build our own techniques; use [their] info and ideas of acting as a foundation." It seems marami na ngang nakukuha si Stef from the workshop. But as they say, learning is a continuous process, and Stef is not blind to this fact. Kaya siya mismo, she takes every moment as an opportunity to learn. Watch out for Stef soon sa Ang Panday, and keep logging on to iGMA to find out kung ano ang next TV project niya.
