Mindanao, Write About Love win big at MMFF 2019 Gabi ng Parangal

Rocco Nacino feels elated about the awards given to his and Miles Ocampo's movie Write About Love at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal held last night, December 27.

The romantic-comedy film won the second Best Film award, next to Judy Ann Santos-starrer Mindanao.

It also won Best Screenplay, Best Original Song, Best Musical Score awards.

Write About Love director Crisanto B. Aquino took home the Special Jury Prize while actors Joem Bascon and Yeng Constantino bagged the Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards, respectively.

"Whhhhhhhaaaaattt? Whooooo!!!! What a night!!! Congratulations #WriteAboutLove!" said Rocco on his Instagram post.

Meanwhile, multi-awarded actress Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo earned another acting award for her performance in drama film Mindanao.

She first won Best Actress for the same movie at the 41st Cairo International Film Festival last November.

"Wooohhh!!! Lord! Grabe ka sa akin this year! I am beyond grateful!" Judy Ann wrote as she shared her win to her Instagram follower.

Mindanao director Brillante Mendoza won Best Director while Allen Dizon won Best Actor.

The movie also bagged the Best Child Performer, Best Sound, Best Visual effects, Gender Sensitivity Award, Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award, and FPJ Memorial Award for Excellence.

Meanwhile, MMFF 2019 third Best Film was Carmina Villarroel-starrer Sunod, which also won Best Cinematography and Best Production Design awards.

Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Iza Calzado, and Meryll Soriano won Best Perfomance by an Ensemble for their performance in Culion.

Carmina was hailed as Female Star of the Night while Miracle in Cell No. 7 lead actor Aga Muhlach was Male Star of the Night.
