WATCH: Marcelito Pomoy's finale performance for 'America's Got Talent'

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Filipino singer and finalist Marcelito Pomoy channeled his inner Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson in his rendition of the song "Beauty and the Beast" for the finale of America's Got Talent.

Marcelito's performance drew praise and standing ovations from three out of four judges (namely: Howie Mandel, Alesha Dixon, and Heidi Klum) and fans alike when he brought out his dual voices for his finale performance.

Simon Cowell, the toughest judge to boot, remained seated after his performance.

Simon said, "You're a very nice, very talented guy. I got to tell you, you really, really are. And this is even better than the last performance you did -- much, much better.

"However, if it was my choice -- on a night like this -- I would have done something less predictable.

To which Alesha protested, "How is that predictable?"

"The songs he's chosen is very safe. I get it, they're very popular songs but I just think if tonight he'd done something out of his comfort zone that could shock everybody like, 'My god he has chosen this song.' That could've been another moment," Simon explained while receiving boos from the audience.

Fans of Marcelito quickly pointed out that Simon's comments were uncalled for knowing that the performance was chosen by the show.

This was confirmed by Marcelito through his official YouTube channel.

Back in 2011, Marcelito won "Pilipinas Got Talent."

He was then chosen to represent the Philippines in the "America's Got Talent: The Champions" which brings together past contestants and winners of international versions of the said competition.

His fate is now in the hands of the voting public.
