Mosang on Adik Sa 'Yo co-stars: 'Pansin ko, ang gaganda namin.'

You would think a comedian like Mosang is used to the hustle and bustle of a comedy-based soap. Pero, according to her, kakaiba ang 'Adik sa 'Yo' in many aspects—including how it perceives comedy! Text by Jason John S. Lim; with interviews by Erick P. Mataverde. Photo by Mitch S. Mauricio. Why is Adik sa 'Yo such a hit these days? Comedienne Mosang tells us, "Beside the story [which is] very good, ang daming twists and turns, nakakatuwa talaga." But more importantly, "comedy siya, pero realistic pa rin—it really happens." "Nangyayari na nai-in-love ka," she points out that it happens where people fall in love with the same person, and all of them act like fools because of that love. "Pero nai-in-love pa rin kayo." Dagdag pa niya, walang pinipili ang pagmamahal. Kaya naman malaki ang pasasalamat niya at ng staff sa pagmamahal na natatanggap nila from the loyal viewers of the show. "Maraming nagsasabi sa akin na mga nakakanood na kakaiba 'yung comedy," Mosang shares with us. They cite, according to her, their reason for loving the show is: "It's very light and yet very real." As for Mosang, she loves the show dahil it gives her three things, among others: she gets to work with renowned director Joel Lamangan, she gets to work with great friends, and she doesn't have to be ugly to be funny. "First time ko kay Direk Joel," share niya sa amin. "First time ko siyang makatrabaho." And what Mosang loves about the director is, "para akong bumalik sa theater days ko." Admittedly, Mosang also felt the first-time jitters of working with Direk Joel. After all, kilalang-kilala ang director sa pagiging strict niya sa kanyang set. "Pero," she tells us, "nakakatuwa siya kasi hinahayaan niya 'yung [mga] aktor niya—lalo na in comedy." That said, Mosang also tells us na hindi nawawala ang disiplina sa set ni Direk Joel: kailangan hindi late, kailangan prepared lagi. But more than that, Direk Joel wants the best from his cast. "Mahirap magpatawa, eh, minsan lalaglag ka; pero bukod pa sa tatak ni Joel Lamangan, alam mong alam niya 'yung ginagawa niya. "Alam mo 'yung gagawin niya, para sa ikagaganda ng ginagawa mo." Nakatutulong rin, siyempre, that Mosang gets to work with good friends. "Siyempre si Jolina [Magdangal], naka-work ko na, long-long time pa." Pero bukod sa kanya, Mosang is good friends with the staff. "Sila Miss Helen [Sese, executive producer], ever since dumating ako sa GMA, sila talaga 'yung una kong naging kaibigan. Kay Rams David, sobrang thankful ako. I'm happy to be here." Isa pang nagpapasaya kay Mosang is the fact that she doesn't have to look bad para maging source of laughter. "Heto 'yung comedy na maganda ka," sabi niya sa amin. "Hindi kami pangit dito; [the comedy] is only the acting, pero 'yung istura—'yung look? Napansin ko, ang gaganda namin." And isn't happiness contagious? Kaya naman happy rin ang viewers na manood ng show! Kaya naman, to thank the fans, tuloy-tuloy lang ang mga twists and turns that make Adik sa 'Yo truly addicting! So masarap.
