Alden Richards bags trophy at the 12th Ani ng Dangal Awards

Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards expressed his gratitude for being one of the recipients of Ani ng Dangal 2020, conferred by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCAA), at the Malacañang Palace, on Wednesday, February 26.

Alden celebrated the feat by posting photos taken at the ceremony, along with a congratulatory message for his fellow recipients of Ani ng Dangal.

He wrote, “It's an honor to receive one of these from NCCA and Malacañang. Thank you for this recognition. So timely that we are celebrating Arts month this Feb. Congratulations to all the recipients of the 12th Ani ng Dangal Awards!”

Ani ng Dangal is an annual event in the Philippines that serves as the highlight and concluding rite of the Philippine Arts Festival, where personalities who have achieved international acclaim are recognized.

Alden has clinched numerous awards in festivals abroad including the Asian Star Prize at the Seoul International Drama Awards in South Korea in August, and the silver award that his “Alaala: A Martial Law Special” documentary drama received at the 2018 New York Festivals in April 2018, among others.

Other recipients of Ani ng Dangal were Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, Angeli Bayani, Barbara Miguel, Crisel Consunji, Dante Rivero, Jun Robles Lana, Kristopher King, Martina Eileen Hernandez delas Alas-Sibayan, Maxine Eigenmann, Rina Marie Padilla, Raymundo Rody Vera, Allan Rey Salazar, Anthony Into, Celso Beringuel Creer II, Danilo O. Victoriano, Jr., Donell C. Gumiran, Glenn Campanilla, Jesus Ramos Tejada, Jophel Botero Ybiosa, and Jun Epifanio Pagalilauan, among others.

Ani ng Dangal is one of the highlights of the National Arts Month, which is celebrated every February by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 683 signed in 1991.
