Miss Universe Philippines 2020 contestants speak their native language!

By Patricia Isabella Romarate

The first ever Miss Universe Philippines 2020 takes the pageant to a whole new level from revealing a new crown to launching its own Fashion Week.

Now, it's promoting the diverse dialects of the Philippines.

In a promotional video, the 50 official candidates from all over the country proved that every Filipina is phenomenal as they showcased their native languages.

From 'magandang araw sa inyong lahat' to 'maayong adlaw sa inyong tanan', hearing the contestants speak in their own dialect refreshed the traditional view of the English-fluent Filipina beauty queens.

Some netizens asked if the MUPH is ready to introduce the rich languages and dialects of the country to the international stage of Miss Universe this 2020.

For a long time, Philippine representatives stood high and confident during Q&A portions as they can articulate the English language with fluency.

However, an interpreter will be needed if ever the MUPH decides to use the native language of this year's representative.

Nevertheless, the Miss Universe Philippines promises to surprise Filipinos with their fresh take on the pageant.

According to a previous statement from MUPH National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee, “We're also very excited because this is a new pageant.

“There are so many new things that's gonna happen, even us we're very excited for the changes, and we're looking forward to a very beautiful year with Miss Universe Philippines.”

The Miss Universe Philippines 2020 coronation night will be held on May 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
