Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto slammed fake news COVID-19 purveyor that falsely used GMA News.
Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto slams a fake news purveyor that spreads false facts about a certain family in Pasig City that was allegedly infected of deadly coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
In a Twitter post on Tuesday, March 10, Mayor Vico shared the fake GMA News' post about the alleged case.
He wrote, “Ano bang napapala ng mga gumagawa ng mga fake new katulad nitong fake “GMA” post na 'to.”

He also defended the network from the harsh comments of netizens brought by the panic the fake news has caused.

Mayor Vico also advised his constituents to stay calm and and do not do panic buying for it may cause more harm than do good for the public.
“Dont panic. I was at the Task Force mtg in Malacañang and i believe the DOH is being very truthful about the information they are releasing.
“As of tonight 24 confirmed cases. Pls dont do panic buying. Lalo na sa mga alcohol, masks. Kawawa naman yung mauubusan.”

Meanwhile, the Pasig mayor confirmed the city's first COVID-19 case on Monday, March 9.
As a precautionary measure to prevent the surge of virus-hit Pasigueños, he said the he is closely coordinating with the Department of Health (DOH).
He wrote, “As announced by the DOH, there is a COVID-19 patient (not a Pasig resident) currently confined in Medical City Pasig.
“There is also a COVID-19 patient who is a Pasig resident, but is currently confined in a private hospital outside of Pasig.
“The LGU is closely coordinating with the DOH. The hospitals are secure.
“We are also implementing precautionary measures based on DOH and WHO guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to: contact tracing (most important); dedicated response teams observing proper protocol; disinfection of public spaces; cancelation of all public events and gatherings; and applications for permits for large private events on hold.”
The number of COVID-19 infected people in the Philippines continues to rise daily.
