Ryan Cayabyab and other local artists launch Facebook live concert to raise funds for those affected by COVID-19

National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab launched a series of home concerts with other local musicians through Facebook live to raise donations for sectors of society affected by COVID-19.

Cayabyab sang some of his favorite compositions, including the nostalgia-inducing hits like “Kailan”,"Limang Dipang Tao", and "Can This Be Love."

He said during his livestream, “Itong FB live concert, iba po ang format nito. Hindi rin ito broadcast. Dalawang araw ko pong binuo ito. “

The music veteran is one of the founders of “Bayanihan, Musikahan” an online concert series featuring Filipino musicians aiming to help those affected by the COVID-19 crisis in the country.

Cayabyab also explained that the artists performing during the livestream will be determined by an invitation from a previous performer, with at least one singer going live per day from their own Facebook page.

He has invited the singers Ebe Dancel, Sponge Cola, Karylle, and Top Suzara to join in performing.

The World Health Organization has declared the COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic. Over 179,000 cases have been confirmed worldwide and more than 7,000 people have died as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
