ROS guard Ryan Araña gives food packs to frontliners on his birthday

With the rapid increase of coronavirus patients in the country, which now stands at 462 cases, Rain or Shine (ROS) Elasto Painters veteran guard Ryan Araña opted to help the frontliners who are risking their lives during this pandemic.

Instead of throwing a big party to mark his 36th birthday, Ryan prepared food packs, which he distributed to the frontliners like policemen and security guards.

For Ryan, they are "heroes."

In his Instagram post, he encouraged his followers to do the same and spread kindness during this difficult time.

"This is how I celebrated my birthday. Instead of having a party, I planned on making it more meaningful by celebrating with our heroes in the streets.

"Thank you to our frontliners, security guards, policemen etc. It was a simple act yet seeing their big smiles made it fulfilling."

"I hope we can spread kindness and positivity especially at a time like this. Special thanks to all the people here at home who helped me with all the preparations. Cheers everyone "

The former La Salle standout in January 2020 returned to Rain or Shine, the same team which selected him in the second round of the PBA draft in 2007.

Ryan last played for NorthPort, before returning to his original team.
