Ruby Rodriguez's sister Dr. Sally Gatchalian dies from COVID-19

Ruby Rodriguez confirms the passing of her sister, Dr. Sally Gatchalian, due to the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Ruby shared the sad news in an Instagram post, where she wrote a lengthy message for Dr. Sally.

“My sister, Manang Sally, this is our Christmas 2019 family picture.”

“We will only remember you with happy memories, laughing and sleeping, your johnson outfits and all, how u love bling bling, your Kuaff hair everday, your K-drama addiction ( u got me hooked up too) I will make u kwento what I have seen last, our Sunday lunches, our "bonding trips" that you and I only do ( other siblings kasi nasa US) lots of happy and fond memories!”

She added, “I love you so much my big sister, say hi to Mom Dad and Manong Robert.”

Ruby ended her letter with a peaceful farewell. She said, “Be at peace do not worry about us anymore. Have fun in heaven! Love you so much!”

A colleague from the medical field lamented Dr. Sally's death, which is considered another loss of a great healthcare frontliner due to the coronavirus.

In an interview with Dobol B sa News TV, Dr. Rustico Jimenez, president of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines, said Dr. Sally was the ninth fallen doctor amid the health emergency.

Dr. Sally Gatchalian was the president of the Philippine Pediatric Society.
