Celebrities, netizens criticize Sam Morales over alleged catfishing stories

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Celebrities and netizens alike rebuke multimedia artist Sam Morales after a trans woman named Jzan Vern Tero disclosed how Sam fooled her into thinking she was chatting with a man identified as Bill Iver Reyes.

In a series of tweets posted yesterday, Jzan shared how she met Bill through a dating app.

The two then engaged in a long-distance relationship--Jzan in Cebu while Bill in Manila.

He then promised to meet Jzan in her hometown but the plan didn't come to fruition due to a family emergency. The claim was then backed up by Bill's cousin, Sam Morales.

The two later patched up and continued with their relationship.

Every time Jzan and Bill would fight, the former would confer to Sam about their problems which would then eventually be resolved.

However, the tables turned when Jzan met with her friends in Manila.

One of her colleagues recognized her so-called “boyfriend” to be a man named Bilko Argana and not Bill Iver Reyes.

The two then broke-up and eventually patched things again after Bill apologized for lying about his identity.

When the two decided to meet in Manila, Bill asked Jzan if his cousin, Sam, could join them.

Jzan agreed and the three then met in a hotel. When Sam left the two, Bill confessed that all this time, it was Sam who was texting Jzan.

According to Jzan's tweets, Sam reached out to her to explain her side.

She revealed that childhood bullying done by homosexuals fueled her anger and need for revenge which led her to target homosexuals and make them “fall in love.”

Celebrities' reaction

Less than 24 hours after she posted her story, the hashtags “Sam Morales,” “Jzan,” “Bilko,” and “LGBTQ” became trending topics on Twitter Philippines.

Personalities like Janine Gutierrez, Benedict Cua, Chie Filomeno, Ivan Dorschner, photographer BJ Pascual, and social media influencer Mimiyuuuh expressed their anger over Sam Morales and consoled a distressed Jzan Tero.

Similarly, netizens appeal to the local fashion industry to avoid hiring Sam who is reportedly affiliated with brands such as H&M and Jag.

As of writing, Jzan's revelation led other trans women to open up about their own experiences involving Sam Morales's catfishing.

This is a developing story. Sam Morales has yet to release a statement regarding her actions and as of press time, her social media accounts have since been temporarily deactivated.
