In an interview with Kapuso reporter Lhar Santiago, the senator related his sentiments over the passing of his staff.

“Napakabagsik po nitong COVID-19. Parang kalian lang kasama ko siya. Biglang ito, wala na. pero ganu'n pa man po, 'yung pamilya pa niya ay in strict quarantine po ngayon at atin pong mino-monitor. At mino-monitor din po ng DOH (Department of Health),” he said.

His self-quaratine was supposed to be over since he tested negative for the virus but he chose to lengthen the period due to the unfortunate event.

“After what happened to my staff, kailangan ko pa rin tingnan 'yung aking sarili kung maayos po ako. So far, wala naman po akong nararamdaman na symptoms na pupuwedeng makasama sa aking kalusugan at I'm doing okay po,” Sen. Bong video added.

The senator also said his wife, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado, is also under self-quarantine after getting exposed to a constituent in Cavite.

“Si Mayor Lani ay self-quarantine dahil na-expose siya sa constituents natin sa Cavite pero nasa mabuting kalagayan naman po siya. Nagkakausap naman po kami palagi by phone,” he related.

He likewise noted that his dad, former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr., remains in good shape.

“He's in quarantine. Nagpe-facetime na lang po kami palagi,” he said.

As a precaution so as not to expose others to unnecessary risk, Sen. Bong decided to put himself under voluntary quarantine after possible exposure to one of Senate's resource persons who tested positive to COVID-19.
